Automatic "up" limit switch for an overhead crane
A DIY "limit switch" for an overhead crane that can be used to stop the crane.
Limit switches serve the purpose of determining when the safe travel distance has been reached and stopping motion. Limit switches, however, degrade over time, and if their limit baffle is damaged, replacement will take time and money.
The issue was this. A friend was looking for a quick, inexpensive, and secure solution for a crane at work. So I decided to get the work done by using a infrared switch (or photoelectric sensor). The relay is turned off by the sendor that is activated by the crane hook and stops the motion.
